Pump safety...

So, I got a hold of a pump that I believe would be suitable for recirculating wort. Problem is, it’s not NSF certified. The head is made of NORYL PPO and the impeller is made of VECTRA. Will I grow a third head or blow out my liver earlier than expected?

I called the company and the guy can’t tell me to go ahead and use it anyway, but he basically did. Seems he was interested in the homebrew aspect and spent a good 15 minutes trying to find parts to help me convert this pump to “nsf”.

So - Pump wort or just use this to power my carboy washer?

Probably not as NorylPP is used in water softener valves
Vectra is used in food containers.

Are you using an immersion chiller and pumping cold wort?
If so I wouldnt worry about it.

I can gravity feed the wort to fermenter after the IC; I was just thinking to recirc the mlt and maybe pump to the bk.

My $0.02 - Make sure it is on a ground fault circuit.  For sure.

No it’s more about liver failure; extra appendages growing on or falling off…
FWIW: I have a control box (PID, etc, etc) on a GFCI.

Yeah I got that.  I am between the age where I worry about that, or worry about buying Green Bananas.
So the ground fault thing is good.  Keeps you from talking to St. Peter quickly, if that is your religion…

The Stooges are the best. Larry, Moe and Curly are the funniest trio that have ever graced the planet…hands down. IMHO

Shemp was great…but Curly was the best. He has made me laugh more than any other. Often replicated never duplicated.
