Putting the "nut" in a Nut brown

Yes I’m speculating. But it’s informed speculation, based on the fact that “cane sugar” is not generally taken to mean “white sugar” in the UK, but is the basis for most specialist brewing sugars here.

Two nations divided by a common language and all that - don’t assume the rest of the world speaks American, least of all in England.

Yeah, we spell things incorrectly, rand we don’t put R’s between vowels.  Bloody hell.  ;D

You left lactose out of it. Modern innovative brewer puts lactose everywhere.

Oh yeah.  You’re right.  Vanilla isn’t enough.  If it’s a cream ale, you’ve got to go all the way and add lactose as well.  ;D
