Hello all just signed up first post I have 2 questions, no matter what I do I cannot remove white stains from my carboy used pre high concentration tri San soak, high concentration star San soak, once it dries they are still there, i shouldn’t worry too much right? And I have a stout that I brewed 2 weeks ago fermentation is finished but sitting warm at 76f should I worry about that? New chest freezer is in order last one died on stout brew day so I had to use swamp cooler method thanks and cheers
TriSan and StarSan are both sanitizers, not cleaners. You should clean equipment with a cleaner like Powdered Brewery Wash or Alkaline Brewery Wash, then sanitize just before use.
There is a reason the phrase Rexal Don’t Worry Have a Homebrew is the unofficial motto of home brewing. You really really have to try hard to screw things up
A stout sitting at 76 f is no reason to worry and will be fine.
Regarding those white stains clean with a good cleaner and then sanitize. Glass does not harbor bacteria when cleaned well and sanitized
Again relax don’t worry have a homebrew
Thank you everyone, I did use pbw first but I thought it was beer stone or something so figured a strong concentration of tri San and star San would help and dissolve the white stains thank you all
There are less expensive products available, but Five Star Beer Stone Remover works very well. If you dip a paper towel into an undiluted solution, you can pretty much just wipe beer stone away.
I’m trying to relax don’t worry and have a homebrew but that stout keeps climbing and I can’t do nothing about it 78f but take your advice and keep trying to relax it’s just a bucket of beer right? Not the end
A wet Tshirt on the carboy may give you a degree or so of cooling. It may also put your mind at ease

Reread your post. I see you brewed two weeks ago. I am sure it is ready for packaging.
Thanks again yeah it’s definitely done but don’t have my new chest freezer yet so figured leave it alone til then then keg it
