The Band has always been one of my favorites. Never get tired of listening to them. RIP.
Same here, i grew up listening to them and The Last Waltz is one of my favorites. We oldtimers are gonna see a lot of our idols falling over the next few years.
He will be missed. Listening to The Last Waltz right now. I live half an hour from his place in Woodstock and was looking forward to his birthday jam in May. Guess he’ll do it from upstairs somewhere…
Definitely a sad day. Love the Band. You ever have one of those moments with music that change you? Many of you have I’m sure.
After a loved one dies, you can hear songs again and it’s like you are hearing them for the first time. I lost my mom 5 years ago. A couple weeks after she died, I heard “I Shall Be Released” one afternoon on my favorite radio station. I had to pull over because that moment, even though I’ve heard that song 1000 times, it just nailed me.
Probably going to happen later tonight as I brew and listen to nothin’ but the Band…
RIP Levon. Throw one back with Betty…
Oh man I was just listening to The Band in the car today. Spooky coincidence.
Sad day for music, that’s for sure.
This was from Mountain Jam 2010 which they celebrated Levon’s 70th birthday. Great seeing how happy he was up on stage, knowing what he had to deal with lately. God Speed Levon!
