I’m a relatively new homebrewer. My buddy and I have brewed 4 batches. My aging dad is sick (but still able to drink an occasional beer), and one of his favorite all time beers was Molson Brador. As many of you in the frozen North may know, Brador is no longer made and sold. I’m reaching out to as many people as possible to get a recipe to create a Brador clone. So, does anyone have any ideas on how to recreate it? The closes thing I’ve found is a recipe for American malt liquor. That’s pretty generic. I’m hoping someone on here can help me with more specific guidance! Thanks all!
I don’t have a recipe nor have I had the pleasure of having this malt liquor. I recommend that you search the main AHA site under recipes and see if there are any malt liquor recipes there. Choose one, brew it, and serve it to your Dad with a smile and he’ll love it.
Never heard of it, but from what I’ve found wasn’t really an American style malt liquor but a strong premium lager. Perhaps go for a medium hopped strong export lager?
i think if you took an average north american standard lager, bumped it up to 6% ABV, lager yeast, maybe 20 IBU i could imagine it would fit the bill. all i remember was it was a 6% ABV strong nail in taste, not bad. but it’d probably just be 100% 2row or corn and maybe anywhere from 0% to 5% light crystal malt. it was definitely golden and not that distinct from other molson/labatt products, even the odd, extinct ones.
