I have to bring my daughter places today and stated to mash a batch this morning. Now into boil, waiting for grandma to call which will mean I’ll have to drive around between hop additions (whoohoo). Wondering for the future, can I complete my mash, remove the grains of course, and then do my boil a few hours later?
Yes, but you may want to get the wort to 170 F to denature any enzymes before you go or do a mash out step.
This is absolutely possible. Search for threads about overnight mashing. The same concepts would apply with a morning mash and an afternoon boil. I would certainly not recommend leaving a boil going without at least some supervision and wouldn’t leave my house if I were boiling. But I also don’t know your setup or situation, so I’m not going to judge.
No problems whatsoever… no need to remove the grains though unless you really want to.
