I dug around trying to find something similar to this with a thread fitting on the inside and the right diameter. No luck
How does he expect people to use it with a false bottom?

found this…
at least it’s a more reasonable price…
EDIT: Found this as well… Buy a Dip Tube Kit (tube, adapter, clamp/gasket) | Stout Tanks & Kettles Brew Equipment
Heard back from Phil. They will be working on a dip tube solution after all kettles have shipped. They knew it would be a necessity but put it in the back burner to take care if other production issues. Got my fingers crossed!
I hope they make it right for you guys. They need to.
Hope this helps, but I was at my LHBS today trying to figure out the dip tube solution and what may work is similar to what the SS Brewing “Chronical 7 gal Fermenter” has as the rotatable racking arm. The tube basically fits through the ferule, though the tri-clamp fitting, fits tightly into the valve and uses a couple of o-rings. Not the best description, but the best I can remember. I can’t seem to find any pictures of this setup online.
I decided to go w/ out the pickup tube for now since I use a immersion chiller and can just lift the pot and pour in what’s left in the kettle (which should be mostly trub anyways) into the fermenter.
Yeah, now that I’m home, there is not nearly as much space below the valve opening. The bottom marking is 1/2 gallon not 1 gallon. The hole is less than twice that marking, at least by eyeballing it. A pickup tube will still be nice if he makes it affordable or free for the supporters who need it want it
Well I’m sure the dip tube will not be free… I’m thinking I’ll likely go with the Brewer’s Hardware one. I’ve worked with them before and I’m sure that if the specs on it don’t fit what I want exactly he’ll customize it for me.
EDIT: I submitted a question to them asking for the specs on the dip tube they offer. If it doesn’t jet into the kettle too far I’ll prob pick it up for the $25.
Ok so u heard back from Brewers Hardware on their $25 dip tube. They said it SAS 3 inches long and then dipped 2.5 inches. I measured it out on my 10g Bru Gear kettle and this is roughly where it would end up.
Edit: Here is what I was told:
[quote]Our Tc10pickup tube extends 3” and then drops ~2.5” down to pick up from the bottom of the kettle. It will stay relatively close to the kettle wall because it requires a TC ferrule welded onto the kettle, and they usually extend about 1-1.25” off the kettle.
Please note that this pickup tube requires a 1.5” TC ferrule with a 1 3/8” ID to be welded onto the kettle to mount into.
Thanks,
Curtis

So you think this can be inserted through your TC ferrule into the kettle, but clamped on outside of kettle?
Yes that’s what it’s made for. Basically you clamp it to the ferrule on the kettle. It then has a short extention beyond that that you would clamp your valve onto. In the picture below you can see the 2 large rings. Those are the rings that your tri-clamp fittings would attach to. The kettle wall would be to the right of that 2nd ring.
That looks pretty handy and should do the job
Just following up to see if anybody has used the BrewersHardware dip tube on the Bru Gear kettle. I found the same potential solution and then stumbled on to this thread. It would be great to know how it works for folks if anybody has tried it. Phil indicated that he is still working on the dip tube from Bru Gear, but if this one works I will go with it. Many thanks.

Rob, I have not found a solution yet, patiently waiting on Phil I guess. I have used my 15G kettle 3 times so far, and have just been running off what I can through valve and siphoning anything else I can/want to
Thanks Frank. If I end up getting the one from Brewers Hardware I will report back on the fit. If you hear anything from Phil, please advise as well.
Rob
Will do
dkfick, did you wind up using this part? What have your experiences with the kettle been? Just curious if you have found a good/better solution
Sadly just prior to the kettle coming to me I experienced a large flood in my basement. This has prevented me from being able to brew for awhile. … a situation I hope to resolve in the coming weeks. …
Now that I have my new Bru-Gear 15 gallon kettle with tri-clamp fittings for valve and thermometer, i have some questions:
- When closing the clamps, besides tight enough, how tight should they be tightened? Is finger tight good enough, or tighter
- How long should I expect the gaskets to last, and where to source replacements
- I am assuming a big advantage is being able to take apart to fully clean, so I should take apart after each use for cleaning?
- Looking for suggestions for pick up tube for the valve
- Any other thoughts on these fittings you can share
1 - Finger tight works great for me.
2 - I have mine for over two years with out a problem. others gave you good sources.
3 - Yes
4 - I have boilermaker pots, so they came with such.
5 - keg lube on the inside, where the steel ball meets the silicone is a great help in assembly.
Thanks Frank. If I end up getting the one from Brewers Hardware I will report back on the fit. If you hear anything from Phil, please advise as well.

I received the pickup tube from Brewers Hardware and it will need cut in order to properly fit. Depth into the kettle is workable. Once Phil gets his ready I am sure it will be a better fit, but this one will work if you have the means to cut it done a little. Once Phil come out with his, I will just end up using this one for the recirc port at the top of the kettle, so I needed it anyway. Here is a pic with it in the kettle and rotated until it is hitting the bottom. I probably need to cut of about 3/4’’ to 1’’ so it is just off the bottom of the kettle.
That’s kind of what I was afraid of. I don’t have a great way if cutting it to size cleanly. Still hoping phil is working in something, posted a comment on Kickstarter page last week looking for follow up, still need to put in FB as well
