Who is a famous person that you've had a beer with?

Mmmm…Shirley Manson :-*. My brush with greatness: TimO!

Gee, thanks maxie…I guess…

Had dinner with Alex Karas years ago. Had dinner with Eric Hipple, ex QB for Lions, but he is Mormon so he didn’t imbibe.
Had a beer with my Dad and Jack Roush a few years back.

Once upon a time, I worshipped Tony Banks.  Got all his solo albums, even, including the dry orchestral one, Seven.  But I don’t know… maybe he’s less intense after he’s liquored up.  But I think the most interesting conversations would come out of Peter and maybe Steve.  Yeah… any of them would be cool to enjoy a pint with.

I’ll add that my wife had moonshine out of a ball jar with ZZ Top.  Not beer, but a pretty good story nonetheless.  ;D

I once had a beer with Dave Barry while he was here appearing as a dead man in an opera!

COOL!!!

My FIL was listed as one of the 20 “most influetial minds of the new economy” by Business 2.0 magazine

There are very “celebrities” that I would even bother having a beer with.

Would love to try and talk Peter into handing over the only ‘full’ live recording of the Lamb.

I’m not sure if it sucks or if it is good that every band can afford to record every live performance these days.

Mario

I had a few beers with Redskins players Doug Williams and Dave Butz and basketball player Danny Ferry at a private party when I was only about 18 years old. Actually I’m sure that I was drinking Budweiser or Miller Lite at that point in my life, so maybe that doesn’t qualify as having a beer.

Also, my brother and I enjoyed a Christmas toast with Vince Vaughn at a bar in LA in 2001 (think “Swingers” Vince Vaughn, not “The Break-up” Vince Vaughn).

Damn dude!  I remember that show, it was on after my brothers and I would get home from swim lessons.  Funny to think of ol Ringo having a good bit of brandy sloshing around inside of him while filming that show.  Although glad to hear he got straight.  Maybe not the world’s greatest drummer but seemed to be tasteful and never really limited the band at all.  And a seemingly nice guy all around.

not so much “with” him, but i was at a beer dinner hosted by michael jackson (beer hunter) and sat a table over from him.  the dinner was at bosco’s pizza kitchen in germantown, tn.

He was drining a Heineken, but I was too young to drink: Keith Richards. I was 14 and on vacation in NYC. We saw the play, “Amadeus” and Keith Richards was sitting 2 rows ahead of us. I talked to him a little bit at intermission. A little kid asked him for an autograph and he signed it, “Mozart.”

Butch Patrick who played Eddie Munster on the TV show “The Munsters”.  He was in Atlanta in the late '80’s and showed up at a party that my GF (now wife) was hosting.  A very cool dude.  Said he wasn’t making any money from the re-runs of the show and was a little bitter about that.

These are great stories. I don’t think I’ve actually ever met anyone famous. Seen some celebs on the streets of NYC but that’s about it.

Had a beer backstage with the legendary Buddy Guy once… at a gig where my band opened up for him.

OOH!  OOH!  I thought of a couple!  I’ve had beers with Fred and Drew!

Dirk Benedict, remember him? Face from the A-Team, he lives in my town. Although he was more interested in my wife and her friend. I used to be a chef, and have cooked for many famous people. Does that count? ::slight_smile:

Excellent!

Starbuck!
