Whole Cone Hop IBU.

Howdy homebrewers,
Brew day coming up tomorrow, I have 8 oz of Azacca whole cone hops from YVH.
Everything I’ve read mentions you get 10% more IBU from pellets versus whole cone hops.
To account for the difference would it make sense if I decreased the amount of alpha acid on the label by 10-15% when creating my recipe in beersmith ?

I guess I don’t see a difference while entering the recipe in beer Smith if you choose pellet hops or whole cone hops.

Thanks in advance for the info.

BS accounts for this: Tools>Options>Bitterness

Once you’ve added hops to a recipe, double-click the hops and adjust the type (pellet, whole, plug).

Thanks Pug.

Switching from whole hops to pellets will change the IBU in Beersmith but it won’t change the amount. You will have to adjust the amount to match the IBU’s you are aiming for.

Thanks Kevin.  I find the IBU/SG ratio worked best for me.
