WLP 670 American Farmhouse blend

This strain sounds great. Except for the mouse urine.

It must have been introduced after the spring of 2009 since I never saw it on the White Labs order sheet when I last worked for a LHBS.

I’m pretty sure this is the first go 'round… right?  No one seems to have any experience with it anyway.

@whitelabs twitter post states “NEW STRAIN- WLP670 American Farmhouse yeast. Inspired by a local San Diego #brewery. Get the perfect amount of sournesss. Check your LHBS” and the White Lab page for WLP 670 states “…It consists of a traditional farmhouse yeast strain and Brettanomyces.”

Question: Do you have to have separate fermentation equipment for Brett fermentation or is that for bacterial strains?

If you ferment in stainless or glass, you don’t need separate stuff for anything including bacteria.  If you’re using plastic, it is prudent to have dedicated stuff.

And what about Better Bottle’s? Plastic that’s supposed t be as good as glass…

Plastic scratches too easily.  I wouldn’t trust it, but I haven’t tested it either.

Thanks.  I got plenty of tubing to dedicate and SS racking canes.

Has anyone heard any feedback about this yeast yet?  I would think someone has at least gotten enough info to tell us some fermentation time.
