Your favorite glass

How about a glassware thread?  I know everybody has a favorite.
Perhaps you like different glasses for different beer.  Maybe your vessel is not even glass.

It would be interesting to see what everybody likes.
Pictures are encouraged, unless you are very gifted in the art of verbal description. ;D

You already know I like a nice Mason jar, but I have become particularly fond of this shape:

Cheers!

The one you mentioned there is my go to glass for Imperial Stouts and BarleyWines!

I also have a Chimay gobelt for Belgians.

My go to glass for most beers though is a Tankard from one of our brew store website friends.!

I also use a traditional hefeweizen glass for wheat beers.

i have 6 ounce juice glasses that are nice. i use these when i split different beers with my wife.  i also like the standard 16 oz glasses.  and of course a red solo cup…

I love my Sam Adams perfect pint glasses, but they are unfortunately too small. I’m kicking myself for not getting the 22oz version. Can’t put a proper head of foam from a 12oz bottle in a 16oz glass unfortunately.

My other favorite is a 22oz weissbier glass that I found at Pier One imports a few years back. It’s basically a stretched-out version of the Sam Adams glass; sort of like a pilsner glass that bulbs out at the top.

For high-gravity sipping beers (Thomas Hardy, 120 minute IPA, etc) I usually use my Glencairn Whisky tasting glasses.

20 oz. Beecher Glass for lagers and most ales.

Hefeweizen Glasses for, well, hefeweizens.

I like the glass above for imperial stouts and barleywines as well.  My favorite glass is a tulip glass, everything smells better in a tulip glass.

Here’s a comprehensive guide to beer glasses.

after reading the link above: lets hear it for the mug and the becker

In the big picture, any glass that doesn’t leak works great for beer.

Seriously though, my preferred everyday beer glasses are Nonick pints (and lately,  half-pints).
I like straight sided juice glasses too.  But I’m not all that picky generally.

On those occasions when I crack open a well aged barleywine/old ale/burton,  I’ll often  use a large brandy snifter.  Other than that,  I’m generally happy with any relatively plain glass and I avoid the gimmicky “specialty” glasses.

Aesthetically, I like those tulip-shaped pints (not the stemmed tulip in the Beer Advocate link), but I haven’t compared the same beer in different glasses to see what I really like best.   I know I dislike glasses like champagne flutes and those where the rim comes in too much because they bonk my nose when I’m trying to drink out of them!

I have a bunch of different beer glasses that I use as they are clean, and for different beers. I have some Shaker Pints, some tall 23oz glasses that are kind of like a wide pilsner glass, a couple of the 30cl glasses like the one pictured below, and 4 brand new 14oz stemmed tulips. But my go-to glass for all normal (British/Continental ales) beers is my AHA/Wynkoop Brewery shaker pint that I got when I visited Denver.

I have a heavy glass tankard that I use to actually drink out of, unless it’s dirty then I drink out of a plain american pint glass or a 1 pint mason jar. for tasting I have a couple of the insulated bodum stemless wine glasses, a stemmed tasting glass I recently picked up for 0.50 at a thrift shop or a cute little nutella glass. sometimes I drink out of the bottle (gasp!)

8), thanks for posting.  Not comprehensive though…I didn’t see any mason jars in there.  ;D

:o, mason and the bottle.  Dude, you totally must have been raised by a pack of wild hippies.

Yes, the stemless wine glass, another favorite of mine.

Anybody ever messed with making glasses out of old wine bottles?

But seriously, I’m not much of a glass collector, but I am partial to these:

We actually do have a thread about this. http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?topic=3862.0 Never hurts to revisit!

Anyway I have these types and always looking for more:

I like my 20 oz, 2011 Cambridge England Beer Fest pint glass but if it came to it, I would drink out of anything that did not have a hole in it.

I broke my favorite mug.  It was a large heavy U shaped clear glass mug with a big handle, and it held pretty close to 22 ounces.  Traveled with it unprotected and she shattered.  Darn it.  It was unique.  Had an etched message from my 4-year old son about “daddy” and everything.  :frowning:

It’s usually the standard shaker pint glass for me these days.  Sometimes better is the big 22-ounce weizen glass.  That is a very nice one.  I like the Sam Adams glasses as well, but they don’t seem as sturdy as the good old shaker pints, and seem to only hold ~12 ounces plus foam.

Who needs a glass when you have picnic taps?

I have too many glasses to have a favorite.  Whatever is full.

I use 20-oz mugs (have six) for my half-liter bottled brews and the Sam Adams glasses (have two) for the 12-oz’ers.

I like my Nonic Pints , Dimpled mugs and my 20oz Thistles …
