A homebrewing milestione

after nearly 17 years of homebrewing, it’s finally come to this…there is nothing home brew related I want for Christmas!  I have all the gear and ingredients I could want or need.  In a way, it’s kinda comforting!

Excellent!  As long as this isn’t followed up with “There is nothing new in home brewing that I want to try.”

Now your lovely wife can focus on chia pets and the like.

That’s pretty cool, Denny.  You know, I think I’m there, too. I used to have this idea of splurging on a fancy system, and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just not for me. I have my system dialed in and I like it !  If I need to replace something I will, but I think I’m good on equipment. Won’t tell my wife that yet. Just in case !

Finally time to do what you’ve threatened all these years and take up knitting.

I’ve reached there with kitchen stuff. I can walk through a shop and finally not buy anything. Homebrew gear, nope, not quite. New stuff still holds a compelling fascination. I must say that getting to brew with a friend who has the most tricked out system I’ve ever encountered has put the brakes on my desire to acquire though. A person just can’t brew enough to make all the set up and clean up worthwhile.

How about books Denny? Don’t those count? The Malt book is out, which I will have to get and I’m really looking forward to Randy Mosher’s new book too. Then there’s that Experimental Brewing book. Perfect gifts for the brewer who has everything.

I asked for the Malt book.

So the enlightened state that Denny has reached is in the future.

Too late…I learned to knit when I was 12.  Besides, all my time for the next 6 months is set aside for writing.

I saw Randy’s book at NHC last summer and I’m really looking forward to it.  I think it could become a new standard.  The Malt, book, I dunno…I found Water and Yeast not really homebrewer friendly.

Ask for a gift card to your favorite HBS. That’s what I did.

That’s what my wife usually gets me, but there’s really nothing I need.  Got a freezer full of hops, a fridge full of yeast and several hundred lb. of grain.

It’s good to be satisfied. Happy Holidays.

Aside from completing a kegging set up, which I don’t have room for, this Christmas will flesh out all the equipment I think I will need. I just need to keep a supply of ingredients and a faster metabolism so I can drink more of my beer. There are still things I could want like barrels or a recirculating mash system but I don’t have space for them and I’m making good beer on my current set up so no reason to spend cash needlessly with law school debt hanging over my head.

I was starting to feel the same way… then someone went and released a book I didn’t have, and ruined it

You’re welcome!  ;D

I promised you the glass. I will send it someday but it will not arrive for Christmas.

Are you selling swag online yet Leos?

No but if you send check to the brewery we will send you what you want (if we have it).

Easiest way to contact us is from our contact us form.

Sounds good. I want to send my support and doubt I’ll get up your way.

Denny-
There’s this really cool hobby called “cheesemaking”.  You get to start with some raw ingredients and set the stage for an enzymatic reaction happen that modifies the base ingredients.  Then, you can age it and let other microbial flora take their turn at it and before you know it, you have a consumable end product.

It takes quite a bit of equipment, though.

Sound interesting?

Sounds good. I am sure you have small brewery around you that is doing exactly what we are doing.
