Adding bourbon to homebrew

Have been homebrewing for about a year and have finally decided to change up some recipes. I wanted to bourbon a beer recipe. What is the best way of doing this (straight in, chips ?) Thanks for help in advance

It depends on what you’re looking for.  Bourbon by itself gives you something different than bourbon soaked wood chips.  Wood chips alone, with no bourbon, gives you something different as well.

I typically soak chips in bourbon and pour the liquid off the chips into the keg.

I’ve only done it once.  I just added bourbon to taste and kegged it.

If you want more wood character, chips would help you get there.

And Denny’s recipe is quite a fan favorite around these parts. SWMBO is disappointed that there is none in the pipeline yet for the cold winter nights ahead of us. Really can’t go wrong with that recipe
