For years when my membership is due for renewal, I renew for 3 years. This year only see one year renewal as the only available option. Does anyone know why the 3 year renewal option went away?
It went away just a little bit ago in part to make transitioning the accounts easier. The non-annual tiers of membership (monthly, 3-year, lifetime) are being re-evaluated. (As an example because of BS fraudster activity, we just had to pull the monthly membership because scammers were using it to verify credit cards). It’s a shame because that was our nice entry point membership!
Here is a complete fresh overview of AHA membership options. https://homebrewersassociation.org/news/aha-2026-overview-membership-options-february-25-2026/
Thanks for the responses. I renewed the one year renewal. I found it a bit clunky, as afterwards it assumed I was a new member and sent me to a Welcome New Member! page.
20/20 hindsight, I probably should have picked the Lifetime membership option when I first became a member in 1991 or so. Oh well, live and learn.
It’s always so hard to know though, right? I think I was a member for like 12 years before I pulled the lifetime trigger.
Regressive business policies that restrict progress, cause bad customer experiences, or create unnecessary barriers. They are often signaled by rigid, unhelpful, or outdated stances.
I really wish the AHA would bring back the lifetime membership, and also make it available to existing members. I regretted not signing up for it when I initially joined a bunch of years ago, once it became clear it wasn’t available for renewals. I’d be more than happy to commit to the lifetime membership now, if it were available at a reasonable cost. I also think that it might be kind of cool to occasionally have special events of some sort for lifetime members, maybe at HBC, if that level of membership were to return. Seems like a no-brainer and a nice way to further build community.
Yes heard and for future planning we will be looking at all membership term options and asking what should AHA evolve? Where we are now is only a starting point for where it can go.
