Looks pretty good to me depending on what kind of hop character you are going for. I would personally remove the dry hop for an American Amber and save that for an APA.
Agreed, there is a lot of variance in American ambers these days - from light hop character all the way to near-IPA in some West coast examples. Personally, I think the hop schedule looks good. It’s probably in the middle of the two extremes. Good luck !
I will drop the Dry Hop as you 2 suggested… Gracias!!!
Quick question? when choosing hopping amounts besides the intended IBU target… do you try to Hop in a way that uses your all your hops rather say for example hopping with .25 oz out of 1 oz… leaving in the bag .75 oz left over… which depending on your brewing frequency might be used on another recipe but if not then goes to waste right…? Basically utilize your hops in schedule that minimizes waste or having to store your hops till you can find a chnace to use them again…
I use a vacuum sealer to keep my hops fresh (in the freezer), so I just plan out what I want to use and seal/freeze the rest. And FWIW, I think the oz of dry hops would be good in that beer. It’ll be good either way.
I’ve never dried hop before so this would be my 1st and im anxious to do it see what it does and then build upon this as an experience…
I’m thinking dry hopping it the last 5-6 days before bottling or kegging while its cold crashed during those 5-6 days. Any temps that are suggested or dont cold crash, etc…???
An easy way to dry hop the first time is to put the hops in a fine mesh paint strainer bag and add to your fermenter after fermentation winds down. Wait 5 days, verify you’re at final gravity, then package. It’ll be good !
