Sierra Nevada Supports Homebrewing

Sierra Nevada has homebrewing in our blood. Since the very beginning, Sierra Nevada’s founder Ken Grossman was obsessed with the alchemy of brewing. His early experiments with brewing at home led to the creation of new styles of beer that would eventually set the stage for the brewery. Those first recipes inspired many of the brewery’s most famous beers, and that do-it-yourself homebrew spirit still holds true today.

In the three decades since Sierra Nevada started, the world of American beer has developed and grown. There are more examples of more beer styles available today, than at any point in history. America has truly earned its place as one of the greatest brewing nations in the world, largely because of the creativity, ingenuity, resourcefulness and passion of home brewers.

Oooo, oooo, oooo,  Pick me!  Pick me!

So, here’s my question regarding bottle conditioning…

If I were to filter my beer to brilliant before dosing with corn sugar for bottling, how can I figure out how much yeast to add back to the batch to bottle condition my beer. I don’t have a kegging set up, nor a proper lab set up, and I would like to filter my brews for additional clarity, but in doing so I would be afraid of stripping out the yeast so the bottles wouldn’t carbonate properly. Whats a brewer to do?

Regards,
Alan

I have a question regarding fermentation temperature for ale brewing.

I read a lot of discussion regarding temperature control for ale fermentation.  When is it appropriate to raise the temperature of the wort after pitching yeast?  At what point in the fermentation is it beneficial to lower the temperature?  I understand that temperature control, when administered correctly, can help the yeast to clean up diacetyl towards the end of fermentation.  What’s an easy rule of thumb for home brewer’s to follow for controlling the fermentation temperature of their ale while yielding optimal results?

Thanks!

There is a link in the OP where questions should be sent to be entered in the contest…  ;)

Yeah, I spotted that right off.  I wasn’t asking a question, I was doing my best Arnold Horshack impression.  Figured it couldn’t hurt… ay?

Pale ale is the ultimate style for me.  If it is good, man is it good and when it is bad, it can be ugly.  I have recently began experimenting with dry hop additions at different days during secondary in order to create a layering and unique hop profile.  Do you have any experience with continually dry hopped beers that you would like to share.

Long Live the Pale Ale

Mike

Come on folks, posting your questions here does NOT enter you in the contest.  You have to send them an email as the announcement stated…

But it also says this:
Kicking-off on Saturday May 7th, with the American Homebrewers Association Big Brew for National Home Brew Day, submit your beer and homebrewing questions via the “Ask Sierra Nevada’s Experts” post on the AHA Forum.
I would gather from this you can enter your question here or on their site.

In order to be entered, you must EMAIL your questions to: Beer@SierraNevada.com (mailto:Beer@SierraNevada.com) with the subject line ‘Ask Sierra Nevada’s Experts’.

I would gather from this you can enter your question here or on their site.

Try reading the word “via” in that snippet as “as per” and then you’ll see that it’s still telling you to do what that announcement says.

Maybe locking this thread would be in order to make folks aware?

I encourage everyone to enter this contest.  Beer Camp was an amazing experience, easily the best thing I’ve ever won.

Perhaps being able to read and follow the instructions is the first requirement for being chosen to attend beer camp.

Kind of a Darwinian thing… ;D

I would enter on their site after I read the OP, but I was trying to make the guys who posted questions here feel better…

There are plenty of people who can’t read or follow directions that make homebrew, too…

Relax, jeez…

Anybody know who the first week’s winners are?

Will there be a post for the week 3 winners?

Following up on jegarvin’s question…can you please let us know when will week 3 winners be posted?

The winners were posted in the July/August issue of Zymurgy. I would still like to see the responses though.

Would someone be willing to post the winners here?  We did not receive our July/August issue of Zymurgy.
Thanks

Here’s a pic of the ad where the winners were posted.
