Beer availability........... East Coast/West Coast

Spawned from the Trumer Pils talk in the poly-phenols thread.

I have to ask , is there any beer WE (East Coasters) can get regularly that you West Coasters cant?
Seems every time I hear of a beer , I go looking and am greeted with FAIL

Lucky for me I am on the cusp of trying Bells beers.
My boss is headed to a trade show in Pennsylvania and I gave her a list  ;D

Bell’s is one that I hear about but have never seen here.

HA
Finally have something over you
I’ll think of you when I am drinking it next week  :stuck_out_tongue:

Arizona and North Dakota is as far West as its distributed.

I wonder if some of these smaller breweries could work in conjunction with each other to help spread the goodness around?
Protection of their base market is part of the deal too I would imagine.

Jeez, you guys can even get Allagash out West  ???

Looks like we have Long Trail Brewing all to ourselves though.

they can’t get great lakes, but then again, neither can i

Here in CO there are several beers I would love to get, but can’t.  Some of them include Bells, Southern Tier, and Cigar City.  Oh well, all good things in all good time.

At least I can sample most of them at the Great American Beer Festival.  :)

There’s also something to be said (from both a “freshness” and a “green” point of view) to buying/drinking local.

Plus a lot of states throw up pretty big obstacles to importing alcohol, both in terms of taxes and by requiring a different distributor in each state.

Oh a +1 to that but reading comments/threads about OMG goodness makes me jealous

Has anyone tried  Clipper City Loose Cannon out of Baltimore, MD. This is an EC IPA that is highly hopped, over 3lb/barrel.

Yes

Very nice beer

They have good beers overall, least what I have had.

We get the Clipper City up here in NY sparingly. However, my neighbor had a daughter living down there so were were treated to a case from time to time.  I forget the name but the 10% wheat beer was also very good. Loose Cannon is a favorite though.

Out of curiosity, which PA beers are on your list. I am fortunate to live about 8 miles from the Victory Brewery.  Troegs Nugget Nectar is available now, I am planning on grabbing a case this weekend.

Nugget Nectar is a very good beer.  Pretty well balanced at >90IBU. ;D

+1

A very good EC beer. Imperial Amber seasonally brewed between January and March.

I can get Victory and Troegs locally. Sly Fox Dunkel is on the list because I want something to compare mine and Warsteiners too.
Other than that just want the Bells coming back East this time around.

babalu - in my opinion, Bell’s excels more with stouts/porters than anything else (even 2 Hearted  :o - and that’s coming from an IPA freak).  Their Porter, Kalamazoo and Expedition stouts are tops in my book.  They also have a Rye Stout that I am trying to get my hands on.  I’d definitely get those over that Amber (bleh!).

FWIW.

Me 2.

I can’t get it locally. I actually got to try this fine IPA in North Carolina. I want to try their Brown Porter the next time I get a chance. It won Gold in the 2008 GABF.

it is dam good.  kinda sits the fence on brown vs. robust, which is cool by me.

if I spot it next time I’m visiting my mom, I’ll see if I can’t get a six…

Bell’s Hopslam is in the store, anybody have any comments about it?  I saw it tonight and wanted to get it but its almost $18 for a sixer… thats a bit steep for my blood, it would have to be REALLY Good for me to spend that kind of money on a six pack!
