Biofine Clear

Today I went to Midwest Supply and got me a bottle of Biofine Clear.

I have been using Gelatine for quite some time with good results but I also heard good things about Biofine Clear.
It is supposed to be Vegan friendly (if that really matter) and you do not have to prepare it (like gelatine).

I could not find dosing instruction so I asked in the store how to use it.
The answer I got was “from 3 ml to 30 ml per 5 gal”.
I understand that this is a yeast strain dependent but IMO that is quite a range.

Does anybody have any experience with this product and how do you use it?

I don’t have any personal experience using the stuff.  I have been thinking about it though.  Here is a good thread to get you pointed in the right direction.  Pay attention to the stuff by Colin Kaminski.  He is an engineer that used to work at Morebeer before leaving to brew beer at Downtown Joe’s in Napa.

Most of the sites I’ve seen it sold at say 1-2 TBSP per 5 gallons.  I’d say start with 1 TBSP and up for future brews if it doesn’t seem enough.

I read this on Probrewer.
Dosing goes somewhere around 1 ml per 1 gal or
it would be 5 ml per 5 gal.

I see from the feedback that not a lot of people are using it.

I am a polyclar user after trying several other clarifying agents.  It just passes
thru your system it is impervious…and it REALLY clings to the + and - charged
entities in your liquid and precipitates out nicely…
