Blichmann Fermenator lid seal

Hi, all. I have a 14 gallon Blichmann Fermanator. I have replaced the lid seal twice and the latest seal is separating where it is joined. I’m tired of paying over $50 with shipping for new seals. Has anyone engineered their own solution other than buying another seal from Blichmann? Thanks in advance.

Assuming it is a stainless steel fermenter and the seal sits in a grove in the lid. Insert the seal as usual and roll the outside lip of the lid on the ground applying the needed pressure to narrow the opening where the gasket sits. I had to do the same thing on my Spike fermenter. I hope I understand your query.

I have a 14 and 7 gal fermenter from Blichmann with no issues on the lid seal. Have you tried contacting customer support? I have found them very helpful.

I did contact customer support to ask how to reconnect the ends lid seal. They didn’t have a solution. I used the original seal for many years and only ordered a new seal because it was worn. I tossed the split one and ordered a new one. The new one is now beginning to separate. It seems like a manufacturing issue as I got so many years out of the original. I didn’t think to ask them to replace it as I had it for a while.

I contacted Blichmann this morning. This is the reply I received.

“Thank you for reaching out.

Those would come with a 12 month warranty from the date of purchase for manufacturing defects. When we check them into our warehouse they go through inspection and if we see anything wrong then it does not get put into our inventory.

I am not sure when you originally bought your fermenter but we have discontinued that fermenter quite a few years ago. We have tried to keep the seals available though.”

OK, I have the G-4 fermenter which has a solid rubber seal and I have had no issues. It sounds like the older models may have had issues. I am a bit disappointed in the reponse from Blichmann, make sure they understand your new seal is a replacement and hopefully less than a year old and can be replaced under warrenty. One good thing about Blickmann is that I have some older parts in my system and Blichmann has been good about replacement parts. I hate to say it, but it may be time for an upgrade! I did that this year with my controller.
