I brewed an Amercan Wheat yesterday, can’t wait to try it. After I pulled my sample for the Hydrometer jar I pitched the yeast, areated, put the airlock on, and for the 3rd time I broke my Hydrometer taking it out of the package. I’m making a habit out of this.
There is not a local shop near me, and it will be Friday before I can get a new one. My question is will my sample still be good to get an OG on Friday, since I have it refrigerated and have not pitched the yeast can I still get decent reading after 4 days?

It is said that the hydrometer Gods will be pleased if you break one on purpose as an offering to them 
either keep it covered to preclude evaporation or mark the volume so you can rehydrate (mix well)
I have it sealed in the tube in the fridge
I have found the best way to avoid breaking my hydrometer, is to have a spare one available.
Ever since I broke mine and bought two, one as a spare, I have not broken one since!

Working for me also but thermometers are a completely different story.
For me it was finding a plastic one that worked best. If I could only locate the link
