budweiser yes, but kind of cool

Hmmmm…

“Consumers will be giving up about an ounce of beer to get that conversation started. The new can holds 11.3 ounces rather than the standard 12 ounces.”  Maybe getting less Bud is an advantage?

Noticed the link for the 15 best beers in the world.  Most of them are Imperial Stouts.  Didn’t know that Bourbon County Stout was no longer being made.  Too bad.  Expensive, but quite an awesome beer.

IMO, dumb gimmick…11 ounce can for the fashonably hip.

I am a curmudgeon, however, as the only can I really like as a beer package is a keg.  If ever given the choice, I choose a bottled product over an equivelant canned one…even if I pour it into a glass.

I understand the ecological and beer quality aspects of the can, and appreciate the craft beer movement to provide an “on the go” packaging alternative…it is just my personal last choice unless I need it for a reason (like a park, or the pool).

But then again, being a homebrewer, with a kegerator, and stainless steel growlers…I am not much of a packaged beer consumer anyway.

I bet it was intended to be the shape of a woman, since cans normally stand upright.  But they are saying bowtie so they don’t get protested.  But we all know the average Bud drinker is going to look at it and say,“Damn…that’s hot” ;D

Bourbon County Stout is still being made. The Rare Bourbon County Stout is what was retired.

Hmm… let’s do the math here… assuming they’ll charge the same price for these packages compared with 12-ounce packaging, they will bring in revenues of 12/11.3 what they did before… this is a 6.2% return.  Surely the average Bud drinker knows and cares that this is the real reason for the “bow tie” design.  Ha.  Worthless gimmick.  Anything to make more money.

Almost an ounce less beer, and comes in an eight-pack to further confuse consumers. They’ll set the per can price the same or slightly higher than a standard 12oz can for the ‘cool factor’, and most people won’t do the math with the eight pack added. InBev laughs all the way to the bank…

If you don’t have good beer, have good gimmicks…

I believe you have hit upon a truism.  Beer of last resort.

Yes, but they’ll charge the same for it, I assure you! And the consumer will be none the wiser.

Oh, Dave already said that…ah well. Budweiser is lame.

Typical BMC BS.  All style over substance.

neglecting of coarse the cost of engineering, design, fabrication.  it will probably have a limited run, for people who like to collect cans

And 11.3oz is practically 334ml like euro beer bottles. They’re going metric!

What is Budweiser?

“The Budweiser bow tie first appeared in national advertisements in 1956. The brewery says the bow tie look was introduced when too many consumers were using the term “Bud” when ordering the beer in a bar. So the company added the double triangles to emphasize the full Budweiser name.”

How’d that work out for them?

Thanks for the correction Kyle.

Why isnt bud lite straw-her-ita listed in 20a examples?

Red Hook brewing is starting to put their Longhammer IPA into cans.  And that is my standard “go to” beer.  I’ve been considering buy some cans and doing a blind taste test with the bottles.  I think your note has pushed me.  We’re gonna do it this weekend.
