Cancelled Brew Day to Go Black Friday Shopping

;D Yeah Right!!!  ;D  - Not in a million %#$@%%^ years.

Doing a big beer on Friday.  Kate the Great clone from the Portmsouth Brewery.  RIS with OG of 1.104.  The grain bill ( for 5 gallons ) is about 25lbs…my first “real” test for my mash tun ( Coleman Xtreme 72qt - Blue of course ).  I have a nice big amount of yeast slurry I pulled off of a pale ale last night in the fridge.  In a few weeks, it will be aging in a keg with port soaked oak spirals.

Can’t wait to see this one rockin’ the top of the fermenter!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

You had me going there for a second.

Saturday’s my brewday.

I was going to say “what’s wrong with you?”

Even though I can’t brew until Sunday because the wife has family coming in on Friday.

But I brewed last Monday, so I’m OK for a few days.  I’ve got two empty kegs, though, which makes me think I’m not keeping pace…

Oatmeal stout for me on Friday.  Had a hankerin’ yesterday and decided that’s what needs to be brewed next.  Toasted my oats last night for an hour at 325F.  Kinda wonder if I over toasted them; they’re pretty golden brown.  Thoughts? Concerns? Suggestions?

Well played, you had everyone going for a bit there.

I’m brewing a “Sasquatian Ale” in preperation for a local competition for next years NHC.  If successful, y’all will get to try it.  Remember the theme for the Seattle NHC is “Brewing with Bigfoot”

logged in to call you a sissy (or PWed) but alas the joke is on me.  I am working friday and saturday but maybe later after will get a brew in,.

Whew. I thought we were going to have to plan an intervention AND revoke a man card.
Friday, I’m canceling everything to brew a Schwarzbier with experimental Czech lager yeast.
Happy Thanksgiving all!

25 lbs is a cinch for the 72qt extreme. I maxed mine out at 32 lbs

Whew! I was ready to post my first insult on this forum.

I was going to say I canceled shopping to brew.  ;D
Going to a Brown ale on Friday.

More brown than golden? Taste 'em and see if you pick up any burnt flavors. It should be pretty obvious.

Black Friday is but once a year. I can brew any of the other 364, I’m going to go get in on some good tool deals, Can’t wait.

Just so you didn’t think I wussed out:

Efficiency really took a hit on this one.  Added some DME and plan to boil a bit long to get close.

Efficiency?  You can see the bottom of the kettle.  That’s a mighty light beer for a dark beer kind of guy…

dude, boiling water for the mashed taters doesn’t count

See the bottom of the kettle?

This thing is like a black hole…even light cannot escape.

Nothing like a good “black as night” RIS on Black Friday, but how is it that I can see the bottom of your kettle.  ;D

Looks like sky/clouds reflecting. Can’t see the hop bag or string below the surface(?).

Ha!  You’re right.  I used the 4x magnification on IE to look at the photo more closely.  It is a cloud.  At normal magnification the curve of the cloud lines up with where the curve of the kettle bottom would be.
Never mind.  As you were gentlemen…

That is a full kettle!
