Chlorine removal

Group,

I was just doing a little water treatment research on the forum, and I saw lots of information about how Campden will remove chloramines.  I live in Chicago, and the city still uses Chlorine.  Does Campden work for that as well?  I’d like to avoid dealing with a filter, etc. if possible.

Thanks for the help,
Randy

Yep, campden also removes chlorine. Or you can draw your water the day before and let it sit overnight to remove chlorine.

The overnight can be sped up by bubbling with an aquarium aeration stone. The Campden tablets work really well though.

I prefer potassium meta-bisulfite, the active ingredient in Campden tablets.  Its much cheaper than Campden tabs, has no binders and just a pinch is plenty.
