Cider Pressing

This should keep me busy for awhile.  I think this is the fourth pressing so far but the other pressings were not as much at once.

I think our apples are getting pretty close to harvest.  Kinda waiting for a frost first.

Hello, i have a diy fruit press. 6 ton on 30 x 30cm - about 75psi. How fine should the apples be for a press to work effective? I managed to get about 200ml for every 1kg of apples (20%). Is that within ballpark?

I never really calculated weight/volume ratios, I just press all the apples we can stand picking every year (in good years) and get what we get. It varies from variety to variety anyway. I feel that late season apples that are allowed to sit a couple weeks give a higher gravity juice and maybe a little more volume.
As for the size of apple pieces my built in manual crusher rips them up roughly between 1x1 inches to 1x3 inches.
