citra & mosaic

anybody toying around with this hop combo? have a few ounces of each on hand and was thinking about an end of summer ipa. haven’t used a lot of citra so i’m not really sure what sort of ratio i should be thinking about. i made an all mosaic pale ale in the spring that i loved.

cheers.

Great combo. Did Citra + Mosaic + Motueka + Amarillo a while ago, but the Citra and Mosaic really took the lead. I think they’re about equally as potent, so use them in whatever ratio you want to get the balance you’re looking for.

+1.  Both are intense and equally so.

IME citra hops can overpower easily.  So, I’ve been using them at a smaller ratio to the other hops and I really like the results.  I still need to get my hands on some Mosiac.

So far the best version of my IPA is a Citra/Mosaic combo.  Here is the mash schedule I followed:

1.00 oz Bravo [14.20 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 5 43.3 IBUs
1.25 oz Citra [14.10 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 7 26.7 IBUs
1.25 oz Citra [14.10 %] - Boil 10.0 min Hop 9 19.5 IBUs
1.25 oz Citra [14.10 %] - Boil 5.0 min Hop 10 10.7 IBUs
1.25 oz Citra [14.10 %] - Boil 1.0 min Hop 11 2.3 IBUs
2.00 oz Citra [14.10 %] - Aroma Steep 10.0 min Hop 12 0.0 IBUs
2.00 oz Mosaic [12.70 %] - Aroma Steep 10.0 min Hop 13 0.0 IBUs
4.00 oz Mosaic [12.70 %] - Dry Hop 5.0 Days Hop 15 0.0 IBUs
