Any tips or best practices in getting rid of the mess on my Blichman burner that spilled malt extract makes after a boil over?
PBW and elbow grease. or you can do what I do and just not care.
Yeah, that second option sounds much better!
In my house we call that smudge on the burner “character”.

If it bugs you that much you can soak the SS in starsan for 12-24 hours. should remove everything, but you may need to apply a little elbow grease. The burner itself is probably some sort of Iron alloy, best to leave this alone so you dont cause any premature rusting
Oven cleaner will make quick work of burnt on wort. Oven cleaner is mostly sodium hydroxide.
Follow up for those tracking this thread closely ;D…the sticky wort came off quickly with some dish detergent and the hose. One side note, the excess amount of water did something temporarily to the burner. It took quite a while to get all of the burners to flame, I imagine there was water lodged in there.
Take some compressed air or something and blow it out good. the metal in there is probably unprotected and you could get some corrosion.
That’s why I ran it for a bit tonight. Figured the heat would take care of it.
