I’ve been contemplating on getting a canonical fermenter.
Any recommendations ? 4.25 gallons are only fermented.
I’ve been leaning towards the Catalyst.
Thanks

I really like my 7.5 gallon SS Brewtech conical. You can do 4.5 gallon batches in it with no problem. I have both it and the half barrel models so I can do a couple different batches back to back.
Whatever one you buy, make sure to get a butterfly valve on the bottom of the cone. They are way easuer to keep clean than a ball valve. I have ball valves on the racking ports of both fermenters but they are the one you can take apart to clean. I am thinking of eventually putting butterfly valves on the racking ports as well.
I’m really happy with my Grainfather conicals. The jacketed design is great.
I really like my Spike conical. They also make a budget conical, the Flex.
I have a Blichmann conical and like it, but if I were to do it again, I’d go with those stainless buckets instead. Much less expensive and you can accomplish everything that a conical can.
Thank you everyone.
Checking out each one.
Thanks
SS Brewbucket 7.5 gallon is my choice for 5 gallon batches. Cheers!
I like my brewbucket except for the threads and ball valve for the racking arm. I wish they went with another design
Agreed - I would prefer 1.5" Triclamp welded fittings, but as long as I am gentle with the gaskets, I don’t seem to have much problems with leaks or contamination - So far at least!
I traded for one of these, and have used it about six times. Great with a Tilt hydrometer. Good trade!
