Just a heads up…I had registered for Asheville with a full registration for me and a social for my wife. Shortly after I did, I had to cancel due to a family affair scheduled for the same weekend. I called the office and was told that there would be a 20% CANCELATION FEE!! WTF??? It’s gonna cost me almost $90 to cancel. I’ve been an AHA member for 25 years and this is ridiculous. Just beware if you have to cancel…nothing more than a real money grab…I’m very disappointed in the “new” AHA…
We’re sorry to hear you won’t be able to join us in Asheville, and we truly appreciate your 25 years as an AHA member. The 20% cancellation/processing fee is part of the published event registration policy that’s shared during the registration process and helps cover costs associated with administrative processing and planning the event. We understand that plans change and we certainly don’t want anyone to feel frustrated by the experience. The policy isn’t intended as a “money grab,” but rather to ensure we can responsibly manage the financial commitments involved in hosting these events. We’re always happy to help where we can—please feel free to reach out to our team if you’d like to talk further. We do hope to see you at a future event, and again we appreciate your many years as part of the AHA community.
Kindly,
Cody, AHA Team
I can see a flat fee, but not a percentage. I had to cancel a registration once before, many years ago, and there was no fee to do this. You need to revisit this. All I’m asking for is some consideration on this fee structure. I really can’t afford to lose almost $90 right now. So any consideration is appreciated.
And I will add, this…I have no issue with an administrative fee, but these fees, in my experience, are always fixed fees not based on percentage. As far as it being a published fee, I have not been able to find that, nor has a friend that has also registered.
Cody, I can call you tomorrow and we can discuss this further, if you like
