Has anyone had success with this and if so, which bottled beers work. I have read alot about this but am uinclear on which beers are ok to use.
Literally anything unfiltered can be built up from a bottle. The younger it is, the easier it will be, but if there’s sediment, you’re good to go.
Some brewers use a bottling strain that is different from their primary yeast strain, it depends on the brewer. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is my favorite source for getting WLP001/WY1056. Bells yeast is quite good as well, not sure what the strain is. As a10t2 says, fresher is better, also lower bitterness and lower alcohol is better.
