Denny - Mailing Homebrew

Denny I read on a forum on the “interwebs” somewhere that there was work in progress to make it “easier” (i.e. “yeast samples”) to mail homebrew for competitions.  Has the AHA worked on this and if so what is the status.

Yes, the AHA is still working on this and maybe Gary will jump in with more info than I can give you.  I know we have people in DC working on it, but it’s a slow process.

Shipping homebrew for competitions is indeed a Government Affairs issue that the AHA and Brewers Association have been working on for the past few years.  It is a painfully slow process at times, though I am hopeful that we can make progress with a couple of key meetings over the next month or so.  If we get to a point in the process where we need members to get involved in contacting legislators, we will be sure to get the word out.

Is there any new news on this.

Where can we write to help move the legislation along??

Any hope with this?  Maybe working directly with UPS or FedEx?

Wow…just wow…I’m gonna see if I can get Gary to comment on this…

What a darn shame. That’s incredible.

Yeah, that makes NO sense.  ???

I am not at all surprised by this.  There are few if any states that explicitly allow direct shipment of beer to customers across their borders.  There are several states that allow for direct shipments of wine to customers across their boards.  In most of those cases, the laws were changed to allow direct shipments of wine following law suits aimed at allowing those shipments.

I think the author of that article should have done a little more research before slamming UPS and every distributor in the country.
