I am an extract brewer and would say that my results with liquid extract have been inconsistent. For the last year or so I have been using Dried Malt Extract exclusively and getting excellent results. I would like to make an Irish Red recipe from the Brewing Classic Styles book by Palmer and Zainasheff. My question is, what DME would you use in place English Pale Ale Liquid Malt Extract?
I believe Muntons makes a Maris
Otter dry malt extract that you could try.

Briess makes a dried malt extract labeled “Pale Ale DME”. By the description, it is likely going to be a decent substitute for recipes that used a higher SRM base malt.

Briess Golden Light DME or Muntons Plain Light DME are good alternatives.
In this recipe, Briess Pale Ale DME may result in a beer that’s darker than desired unless the beer is very clear.
Home Brew Ohio currently stocks Muntons Extra Light DME and Plain Light DME.
FWIW, I’ve brewed with all three products in the last year.
I brewed an Irish Red recently using Briess Sparkling Amber and Golden Light at a 2:1 ratio. I steeped some 300L Roasted Barley. It seemed just right to me.
