exhaust system

I have a Mash and Boil eletrical system and use to brew outdoors but winter is coming and Ill have to brew in my leaving room. So I need help with a cheap exhaustion system… anyone?

I probably won’t be able to help much, but we probably all need some additional information to help.

How much wort would you be boiling at a time?
How cold does it get outside in winter?

Also:
How big is the room? Height, Width, Length.  Cubic volume is important.

This is what I did in the laundry room/brewery:

Bama, that is awesome. Is that a fantech blower?

It is a 6” Vortex VTX600 497 CFM Powerfan.

BrewBama thats what Im talking about. Coul you send me specifications on your sys?
I have a 5gal sys with a boil off of 1/2 gal/hour.

I got the 6” duct, clamps, tub, chain, plexiglass, screws and hooks from Lowe’s. I bought the fan from Amazon. I heat on a 3500W induction cooktop element I also bought on Amazon.

That steam slayer looks interesting.

If you’re working with electric heating, you don’t need to rely on only metal for the hood. I built a frame from wood and plexiglass that is over my kettle and HLT. Since I didn’t want to bump my head, the hood is just above my head level. To help capture vapor fumes, I added a skirt of visqueen plastic below the hood. I also use the 6" axial fan that bama used.

By the way, I used plexiglass on my hood so that the overhead light wouldn’t be blocked by the hood. It works very well.

I have the same vortex fan mentioned above, and built my own hood.  However, since reducing my boil off rate I have not even turned it in.  Doesn’t seem to be causing a problem.

Mine is similar to this.  I made my “hood” from a 30-quart stainless mixing bowl I got from Amazon.  I have the same fan, and added a variable speed control.  I usually only need to run it at the slowest speed, but crank it up at the end of the brew day to dry out the flexible PVC duct.

If anyone is interested, I’m a rep for these guys. I spent three days in Jacksonville, FL touring the factory and going through their training. Sure, they cost thousands of dollars, but we all want the best for our breweries. Right?  ;D

I built one of these of Brun Dog design (https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/unboxing-the-nano-from-co-brewing.575659/page-31#post-8171285) and it works great- quiet and easy to build.  I mounted mine on the kettle lid because of my kettle size.  Would be nicer to have it mounted to the kettle itself.
