Previously I noted a 1.018 FG after 2 weeks in my Surly Furious clone extract. After a week of late addition hops and adding priming sugar I tested again and came up with 1.022.
Was this from the priming sugar? ( 5 oz in a 5 gallon batch)?

The priming sugar shouldnt of added tha tmuch but if you add in user error, calibration issues and temperature swings id bet its about right.

Right, sorry I forgot to mention it was 1.020 after temp correction.
yup priming sugar should add ~ 3 points
Easy lesson there! Now you’ll remember to check first but it adds an awareness of other aspects too like how much an addition of sugar can raise the gravity. Temp correction… I think hydrometers are generally accurate. BTW don’t let yours bounce off the bottom of the whatever holds the sample. That can jiggle the paper inside.
Help me understand why the gravity check a week after priming sugar.
Not a week after. I was bottling and wanted to taste a sample. So for the heck of it I threw the hydrometer in the sample jar.
Cool. Ya, I come up with an additional 1.003 as well, if 5 oz cane sugar in 5 gallons.
