Tired this last weekend. Thought it was pretty good. Wish I would have saved some to age, it was just to darn good to save.
I really liked the sweet vanilla and chocolate mixed with the bourbon flavor. I didn’t get much oak, but my batch was from 2009 so it could have needed a bit more time.
What are you guy’s thoughts?

I like the beer, but not the price. I have tried it at a couple of beer events and found it nice with a good bourbon character… but there’s something about $22 a six pack.
I’ve bought this beer a couple of times in the 22 oz bottle. Very tasty. the bourbon/vanilla flavors really come out after it warms up a bit about 15 minutes out of the fridge.
I have come to like this beer as it’s been adjusted/improved over the years. I don’t usually buy it in stores though. Instead, I get my fill during events or sometimes at bars.
I love this beer. It is in my top five for sure.
My favorite part is how much better this beer tastes after a few years. I’ve only got one 12 of the 08 left and I’m sad about that. Its an amazing beer. The difference one year makes is remarkable, it really smooths it out.
You guys make me wish I had not just drank both of mine right of way…
Next time I see it on sale, I’ll pick up some and forget about it for a few years.
Tried this today. Very nice, thick imperial stout. Bottled in September 2012. Oaky, with vanilla and cocoa notes. Thick and malty. $6 a bottle though. I think I’ll drink Ron’s instead. ;) His is just as good.

I like it, but I think it’s way too expensive. Nice to try once or twice, but not something I’ll buy on anything near a semi-regular basis.
I also tried a Bourbon County Rye at an AHA event at the GI brewery. That beer was awesome. I’ve never seen it for sale, however.
Do remember that at 15%, its essentially 2 beers in a bottle. So that ridiculous $25/4pack price is a little less ridiculous. Its still quite pricey. I like it, but not that much.

I don’t look at the price of any beer I want to buy. But, I just can’t buy this one because Goose Island sold its soul to the devil two years ago. Freakin’ shame.
Had it once and really liked it. We don’t get it locally (although GI is now distributing into Texas so maybe some day) so I don’t have a chance to pay the price very often but it sure is a pricey beer. Worth it every once in a while although with all the hype around boubon barrel aged stouts I’m sure others on the market are competitive in flavor at a more reasonable cost.
