I’m getting together with some club mates from the old club here on the west coast to treat them to some Heady Topper and Lawson’s finest. I’m hoping they bring some homebrew to share as well.
Both Heady and Sips of Sunshine are excellent beers but I can pretty much have them every week for the cost of a 40 minute round trip. But I’m glad to be able to bring some out here and share with some folks that don’t have that luxury.
I’m amazed at the number of Vermonters that still line up for Heady and Lawson’s but there is also Hills Farmstead who gets great response on all their beers and Lost Nation Gose is quite sought after.
There are a lot of breweries to keep on top of for sure and most of them are middling to good but none approach the crazy fervor that Heady Topper inspires.
I made some meads over 5 years ago that were not very good. Then at NHC 2014, I had Schramm’s meads and I was blown away. So, I started making some melomels with staggered nutrient additions along with back-sweetening and now I’m hooked.
I have been seeing some nice photos today from my Facebook friends doing a Cigar City (slash) Hills Farmstead collaboration. Looks nice in Vermont about now.
