Help Setting Water Profile Inputs in Bru'Water

Hi,

If you click on the link you will see the inputs I’ve used and the error the calculator is giving (i.e. Water Report is unbalanced). I’m using a combination of data elements from the water kit I got on More Beer + the city’s water report. I appreciate if you can let me know what is inaccurate or if you would set the inputs different all together.

Thank you in advance!

City’s Water Report
Alkalinity, CaCO3 17.7 mg/L
Residual Chloride, Cl2         1.3 mg/L
Chlorides, Cl- 16.4 mg/L
Total hardness, CaCO3 16.8 mg/L
Nitrate, NO3- 4.3 mg/L
Nitrite, NO2- <0.017 mg/L
Sulfates, SO4= 9.9 mg/L
Aluminum, Al 0.103 mg/L
Iron, Fe       <0.05 mg/L

Readings with More Beer Kit
Chlorides, Cl- 30 ppm
Sulfates, SO4= 25 ppm
Alkalinity, CaCO3 20 ppm
Alkalinity, Bicarbonate HCO3 24 ppm
Sodium (Na) 40 ppm
Magnesium (Mg) 2.4 ppm
Hardness, CaCO3 10 ppm
Hardness Calcium 0 ppm

I would try using just the kit readings. The water report from the city is a test at the pump or wherever they sample. The kit is reading the water as it hits your faucet. It’s going to be more accurate to the water you receive than whatever minerals might get into the supply through water lines or the pipes in your house.

It seems the City’s report is lacking many of the typical water parameters and that does make it difficult to understand what’s in the water. The More Beer concentration results do produce a reasonably balanced report and that’s sufficient to get you started. It doesn’t seem that the water is highly mineralized and should be a decent starting point.
