Historical Brewing Records

Hi All ,
Im a UK based Brewer and Brewing Historian , currently researching a book on old beers and brewing , with LOTS of lovely homebrew recipie conversions; and would like to do some conversions of old American beers for the book !! Are any members able to direct me to archives which may contain this sort of thing? , Id be happy to send  recipies , if any members are interested , drop me an e mail and Ill send a few lists of breweries that Ive looked at with a Gyle type & gravity list ; most of the breweries Ive looked at so far are from the northern part of England (Lancashire , Yorkshire and Cheshire) eg: Boddingtons 1901-55,
Walkers (Dallam Lane Brewery , Warrington , Lancs) 1875-1920 Henry Bentley & Co , Eshaldwell Brewery,Woodlesford Nr Leeds (1892 - 1894) Best Regards to all in the American Homebrewers Association ;
Happy Brewing
Cheers ,
Edd

If there are large, centralized repositories for old brewing records they are likely in the possession of the large, industrial brewers who obtained records by acquiring the former breweries.

I would be surprised if you can get them to give you access to those records. As ABI now owns one of the largest (the largest?) homebrew shops in the US I’d also be surprised if they don’t start releasing homebrewing books with some of those recipes themselves.

Yards brewing co. Has a series of beers called ales of the revolution
You could try speaking to them. They may help it’s worth a shot , good luck
