More HBC information was just released on the website! Call for speakers, a preliminary schedule, the BJCP running about 1500 exams during the event, etc.
But one thing we don’t have is your photos of the previous cons - whether it be HBC or NHC. So.. how about throwing your favorites up here!
Here’s a couple of Club night videos to get the creative juices flowing for club night in Asheville this June! Unfortunately they exceeded the maximum file size for hosting here so I put them on Google Drive.
Here is a photo from the 2000 National Homebrewers Conference in Livonia, Mi. Paul Gatza (then Director of the AHA, behind - left of Charlie) spent a night at our home in Michigan, doing pre-conference reconnoitering. Paul inadvertently left a pair of colorful boxing shorts in our guest bedroom.
My club (The Fermental Order of Renaissance Draughtsman - FORD) came to the event as The Purple Gang (vicious prohibition gang from Detroit). I warned Paul that if we didn’t have fun, he was going to be sleeping with the fishes ;-).
We had just north of 300 attendees that year and we had a blast! One nice thing about smaller conferences is that they do feel much more intimate and there is a lot less FOMO. My two cents.
LOL I’m in several of these, and remember those moments clearly. There have been some really really FUN conferences over the years, and this is such a great community to spend time with.
