I haven't had a dumper in awhile...

Yeah, if it’s drinkable I’ll keep it around until I need the fridge space or a fermenter. Sometimes my kegs dont’ get kicked before I’m on to something else. I have tweaked finished beers in the past. I have made mineral additions to kick up the hop character or opposite for malt character, adjusted final beer ph…etc. One time I had a Southern Brown ale that was a bit too roasty (I used regular Carafa instead of Dehusked Carafa). So that beer tasted like a small Porter, I added cocoa nibs and hazelnut and it was awesome. I got a 1st place medal for that one after the tweaks. I also sent it to the same comp as a Mild and Southern Brown to see where it really fit, It got a 1st as the spice beer, a 2nd as a Mild and 3rd as what it was intended on which was a Southern English Brown. True story.

Dude, I’m clinking my glass to that.  Great description of how the world of beer goes.  Cheers.

Damn man sorry to hear that. But a 2-3 year run doesn’t sound bad. Yes anytime having to dump a batch is terrible but its going to happen right?.

A great brewer I know once said “you have to be able to dump beer to make better beer”.

I have absolutely no problem dumping a batch simply because I do not feel it hits all the marks I was shooting for.  There are some that are tolerable, but if they stay on tap too long, then it means I don’t enjoy them that much and they are destined to the drain.

The good news is that when more space is opened up in a fridge/chest freezer for another keg, then that means you get another chance at brewing a FANTASTIC beer!

Yep ^^  I give away or dump perfectly good beers that just don’t do it for me, to make room for a new beer. I always feel like the next one will be better.

I haven’t dumped a wild beer yet. They always get better, so far. I imagine it’s just a matter of time before a nail polish remover… no fixing that. But so far so good.

I’ve dumped countless partial kegs that were version x on its way to “perfection”.

I personally don’t understand choking down bad beer. But I also don’t eat burned biscuits, or stay married to lunatics… the list goes on.

It’s not really a big deal. When trying different styles and procedures there are always going to be some less than stellar examples.

I used ring wood yeast a while back.  Luckily my buddy liked the beer otherwise my grass would have drank it.

HA!  Good one Jim.

That might be one of my favorite quotes of the year.
