Infection

Hello,

I’m new to this forum and new to home brewing. I’ve got about 15 successful brews under my belt but my most recent, an extract based Stout might be infected. It’s well into the second stage of fermentation and when I was checking on the progress today, I noticed a layer of gray foam, not krausen like, which made me think I might have an infected brew. Any ideas on how to tell if this batch is a gonner?

It’s quite possible.  Would you be able to post a picture?

Foam or film?  I’ve had issue with a Wild yeast infection that formed a thin white or greyish pellicle.

What does the beer taste like?

I tried to post this earlier, but I’m having issues today…  My session keeps timing out.  Whatever that means.

Definitely take a sample and taste it.  And post a photo.  Gray foam could be anything.
