It was a busy day at WSBW......

In addition to brewing the above depicted metric crapload of beer (10G Kölsch and 10G APA) I kegged an American dry hopped blonde, and a similar non dry hopped blonde, which may or may not turn out to be Gluten Free…Also two friends came over and each did an extract batch…

Needless to say it was a little humid in the barn…but it did smell nice. I don’t understand why my bride wants me to take all my clothes off and stick them in the washer…  ???

Nice work!!

Awesome!

Not too shabby there Oscar. Nearly a bbl of beer. How in the world are you going to drink that all up? ::slight_smile: This is when friends come out of the woodwork.

I think the smell of malt is heady and wonderful. Despite that I’ve been a little stinky after a long brew day in the Summer. No complaints though.

I do the tape thing too, but with no blow-off. Just cracking the lid or lay it on top works for me.

Does SWMBO know you stashed all that in the back bedroom?

Looks like a very productive day!

Yes friends are helping with the drinking of the beer. I also have discovered I am now welcome at parties, and don’t get the door slammed in my face if I have a Cornie in my hand… ;D

Holy cow… one of these guys in farting already… :o This is going to be one heck of a bubble fest!

Looking at that nice berber I can just image your SWMBO quietly grinding her teeth as all those fermenters sit there. ;D I think the final piece to your brewery puzzle is a fermentation chamber. Have you considered getting another fridge and a controller to put out in the man-cave?

+1

A must do, IMO.

Actually the berber is my office off the kitchen, with the tap room off a little hallway that connects the two… I got it going here babe.

Yes, I am looking at a fermentation chamber. My office gets waaaaayyy too hot in the summer, as in 80ºF hot. Right now I’m thinking chest freezer with controller.

Anyone know off the top of their head how many cubic foot freezer I need to house four buckets?

Not sure on the freezer. I prefer an upright fridge for fermenting in( I use carboys). With a chest freezer, you’re gonna have to hoist your buckets in and out. A little awkward and iffy for old backs…

Nice Oscar!

I guess it’s pedal to the metal for you fine sir.  8)

True, but I think you can get more buckets in a chest freezer than an upright of similar volume.

OK, so now I have four buckets bubbling away through blow off hoses into a bucket of water… quite the rhythm section!

Oz,
Do you use 7.5 gal or 6 gal buckets?  I have 14.8 and 15 cu ft freezers and I can get 3 6.5 and 1 6 gal carboys on the floor.  Got them all off craigslist, didn’t pay more than $75 for any of them.

True. I rarely, if ever, have more than 10 gals in primary. Secondary can roll @ ambient in my basement year 'round.

I use 6 gallon buckets for primary and 5 gallon better bottles for secondary. Got an e-mail in to a used 18cu on Craigslist as we speak…It appears that’s where the next pice of equipment will come from. That and one of these:

Stick a small space heater in the cooler for winter as it will be in the garage… is that a good idea?

I just use a 40 watt lightbulb, shielded in a small metal coffee can, with a 120v muffin fan running all the time.

I don’t think you would need a space heater, probably just a lightbulb would work. 100 watt or even 60.

Cool, thanks…

Meanwhile the four bubbling buckets are getting active… I SWEAR they are bubbling INNAGADADAVIDA… :o

OK, I had a beer…two, maybe throur.
