Just wanted to show my first batch bottled. I used some Avery Labels to write down the basic info, and taped over it to prevent it from smudging.
Beer type
Brewed on
Bottled on
Also included how many I was able to bottle out of the one gallon batch but you can’t see that in the pic.
If you have a lot of bottles, you’ll spend a lot of time writing labels by hand. I use Avery mailing labels 1" x 2 5/8" and print them from the computer. There are 30 on a sheet and you can get 300 of them for a few dollars at Wal-mart.
I’d do you one better and just mark the caps with a serial number of sorts that matches your brew log. CSxxxxx or something like that.
Also, I write a slash on the cap for the last bottle or two, when a little air sometimes gets in the wand. I reserve these bottles for personal consumption.
I use 3/4 in round Avery removable labels. Using the supplied template I print the bottled date, the name or style and the ABV%. Easy to see in cases.
I use the avery labels also. Instead of the date, I can also print a name for the beer as well as a picture.
I use Avery labels as well, but I get the colored ones and color code things. If I run out of colors, I’ll write a number on the label. Hasn’t happened yet, I don’t bottle frequently.
I just write a code on the cap.
R for red, IPA, esb, aw=agave wheat, v= vanilla stout
I put them in a box or a milk crate and put a piece of blue tape on the box and write something on the tape so I know what’s in the box. If I have a porter and a bitter bottled I have a box with a “b” and a box with a “p”. Actually now that I think of it that’s a bad example because those beers look different so I wouldn’t do that much, just a different box.
