Anyone have a good technique for getting a lemon flavor to carry over into a finished beer? Im typically not into beers with added flavors but I had a lemon weiss beer that I liked recently and want to do something similar. I think dropping the ph of the ph with citric or lactic acid will get some of the way there but Id like some actually lemon flavor
You can try lemon zest, either dried or as a tincture, typically.
On bottling/kegging day, just add regular lemon extract from the baking section of your local grocery store. Probably about 1 to 1.5 teaspoons in 5 gallons should be plenty. Blend some in and add until it tastes right.
I like lemondrop hops a lot, and they are indeed very lemony, but loading up a weiss with hops is probably not what you’re going for. I recently played with a batch, going for a shandy type thing. I tinkered with the finished brew, adding either country time lemonade mix, actual lemon juice, or both… i personally preferred a little bit of both.
and dont forget Sorachi Ace hops… late addition and dry hop.
That’s more like dill to me than lemon.
