Lemondrop Hops

Last night, I tapped a Lemondrop Pale Ale and I don’t get much lemon flavor at all. I used .5 oz Magnum to bitter at 60, .5 Simcoe at 30, an oz of Lemondrop at 10 and another oz at knockout and steeped for 20 min. It’s more like an ordinary bitter/pale ale. Very drinkable. Just nothing to even hint that Lemondrop hops were used.

I’m going to have to try Kevin’s Cream Ale.

Interesting.  I made a Cream Ale a few months ago and used Lemondrop (only) based on Kevin’s recommendation. .25oz FWH, .5oz at 10 and .25oz dry.  (2.5 gal). Not saying it was like biting into a lemon, but there was no mistaking lemon notes and aroma.  Will definitely be making that again.

Everyone’s mileage will definitely vary.  There’s no “may” about it. 

That’s what I like about it… just that subtle hint of lemon.
