milk stout-adding a touch of chocolate to it?

Hey All,

I am going to brew an all grain milk stout and the better half would like a touch of chocolate taste to it. This an all grain, what extra grain or ingredient should I add to accomplish this?

thx

Cacao nibs.

Here’s an idea: https://www.northernbrewer.com/documentation/allgrain/AG-ChocolateMilkStout.pdf

Chocolate Malt could add some flavor.  If you already have enough dark malt for color, a little bit of “brown” malt won’t affect it too much.

For mine I add cocoa nibs in secondary.  I soak them in vodka both for sanitizing and to draw out some of the flavors.

I would add chocolate malt to my mash tun. Not a high percentage of the grain bill, but not a half pound either, I suppose it depends on your bill though.

I have never directly added cocoa nibs but it sounds fine. I made a tropical stout a few months back. The beer had two pounds chocolate malt, 12% of bill, and it took a minute to mellow out for the chocolate to come through. That beer also had a # of lactose.
