New guy

I’m new to this forum and just wanted to say hello.  Originally from West Virginia but have lived in Georgia now for 30 years.  I still consider West Virginia my home.  I’ve been making my own beer for 2 years now mostly using pre-packaged kits which are “OK”.  I’ve made two 5 gallon batches of brew from ingredients that I picked out and purchased from a place in Athens, GA that has now gone out of business.  I’m here to read and learn from experienced home brewers so that I might pick up some of the knowledge that this board has.  Knowledge wise, I’d say I’m pretty much starting from ground zero.  I’m happy to be a part of this forum and am looking forward to picking up some good tips.  Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! This is a great place to be, I know I’ve learned a lot and have met some great people, albeit virtually in most cases!

There is a tremendous amount of experience here and everyone is really helpful, conversational and fun!

Welcome from another relative “newbie.” I think you’ll find this is an awesome community of people willing to share and offer advice on all levels. Really nice people here!

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome! Where in West Virginia? I have lots of family in the Summersville to Beckley area. Beautiful country.

Welcome to the forums. Some of us are seasoned veterans of Homebrewing, but have good manners and are house trained.  ;D

Welcome!  If you’re near Savannah, PM me.

Oh & yes, we have good amners.

My amners are better than average.  I’d give them a 35.

My amners have improved significantly since I’ve been home brewing. Welcome aboard!

Effing typing skills, poor proof reading , and it goes south from there.

Welcome! Glad to have another homebrewer from the south east here with us!

Welcome from one noob to another. Get ready to be addicted. Since I joined the forum a couple weeks ago my future aspirations have skyrocketed simply because of all experience on this board.

Well, except for Sept 2, 2017, welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum there are a great group of brewers here never be afraid to ask any questions or to express yourself here. I Love this place.

Grew up outside of Wheeling.  Go Mountaineers!!!

Couple of hours from Savannah…I really like Savannah.  Dug some good Civil War and Rev War artifacts there.  I live in Social Circle…sounds like a hippie commune but it’s not.

Ha…I had to look it up on Google Maps because I didn’t think it existed

Welcome to your homebrewing Social Circle.

Welcome!  I visited that Athens HBS this past spring when my wife and I visited our daughter (grad student) in Athens - it had just moved from the main drag out to a dirty old warehouse and its future seemed to have been set by those conditions.  Hopefully you can find an alternate LHBS or order online - I try to do both, but prefer to keep my local guy as a priority.

As to the Mountaineers - you gotta like that Jerry West guy - he’s still the NBA logo after all these years!

Once, in between careers and an architect friend got me a one-day job locally in western Montana helping move stuff from house to barn prior to new construction for one of the founding owners of Ticketmaster (in the country), he was out at the barn and the phone rang.  I almost answered it for him but let it go to voicemail, and heard the message being left.  It was from his good friend Jerry West.  Wanted to kick myself for not having talked to him, but I just would have sputtered and offered some lame sentiment of appreciation anyway.  Anyway, the client decided that the amount of time spent in the barn would lead to rat molestation, so he gave me two beds and a couch, all great condition furniture.  Eleven years later, the couch still sits in my living room.  A memorable day working for a generous guy.

By the way, WELCOME to the FORUM!

Thanks for the nice welcome from everyone.  BTW…I got to meet Jerry West a couple of years ago when my wife and I went home to West Virginia and stayed at the Greenbrier.  Mr. West has a restaurant there called Prime 44 West.  He came over and sat and talked with us for 4 or 5 minutes.  What a nice guy.  It made that $250 dinner tab easier to swallow…
