NHC 2015 San Diego. Changes to Registration

I don’t remember seeing this mentioned, this went up on the 11th. There are some positive changes from the conference committee that should make for more satisfied members.

You still have to be a member to register.

Guaranteed opportunity to register for Lifetime members, registration reserved for BJCP National and above.  The social package is back, read the terms on that, must be an AHA member. The return of the social package will make several couples that I know happy.

Don’t fully understand. There are only 741 judges ranked national or higher according to the BJCP site, but the way it is written reads that only lifetime aha and national bjcp will be allowed to register.

Never mind. That’s only if there will be a lottery, those folks will get priority.

That is right, less than 4000 no lottery and no problems. If there is a lottery they are given priority if they register.

Cool beans… Wish it wasn’t so early still.  Tracy won’t be able to go because it’s right during her last few days of school.  The moved up dates are not nice for teachers.

Sometimes that is due to when the hotel has an opening that will accommodate a big conference.

The AHA will have some data on the social package demand.

Edit - Sorry Tracy can’t make it.

I think I might actually make it this year.

Agreed.  It is right during prepping for end of the year tests and during some tests as well.  It is what it is…

Some used to complain that it ended the weekend of father’s day. It is always something.

Philly was nice because I extent my vacation (and hence my recovery period) right through the July 4th week.

Unfortunately I can’t make it this year.  WDW in April and hoping to get down to Rehoboth in August and check out Ron’s new place on the way.

Glad they’re bringing back the social package.  We’ve had a family membership for a number of years and my wife and I are looking forward to a trip to the left coast.

How many people have attended in previous years?

I’m hesitant to book a flight if there is a chance I won’t be allowed to attend…

This will be number 10 for me.

The conference did not sell out last year (2014). This year in San Diego, who knows?

You will see many with tickets for sale on this forum as it get near to the conference, as life happens and some will not be able to make it.

Hopefully, everyone who signs up will get an opportunity to register.

So now that the information on the NHC site has been updated ( http://www.ahaconference.org/), it asks the important question:  Where is NHC going to be next year?

I know they don’t officially release the location until the conference, but come on…somebody must have a rumor circulating out there.  I’ve heard talk of Baltimore/DC but I don’t know if that’s next year of 2017.

Nothing’s been signed yet, so there’s nothing to announce as of yet.

Actually, the location has been announced in advance of the conference the last few years.  But as Drew said, nothing has been signed yet so there’s nothing to announce.

Yeah, I know…just stirring things up.

One of the best rumors (and worst) I heard from someone last year was the AHA considering making Las Vegas the permanent home for NHC.  That would just end it for me if that ever happened.

I don’t see that happening.

And that’s not even something I’ve ever heard, either. Our last trip to Vegas was a sorta mixed bag, so yeah.

Quick question - somebody help me understand the concept of registering with a guest.

Attended last year with my wife - it was great.

Planning to attend this year with a friend (who is not yet an AHA member but will become one as part of this process). What is the advantage of us registering as guest - versus just two people registering?
