So, I ordered some grain last week. I just picked it up today, it turned out to be Maris Otter, after I got it home and started distributing it into my buckets. I normally get just 2-row pale ale malt from them. I paid the same price for the M.O. Anything I need to adjust for my recipes? Isn’t M.O. usually more than two row?
Maris Otter is a 2 row malt, FWIW. Crisp is a very good floor malted 2-row MO. Try a batch of english bitter with 100% MO and some EKGs. for American pales and IPAs you may want to cut the malt in half with some pils or plain 2-row bcause the malt character can be very pronounced
If you paid basic 2-row price for the MO, you got a deal. Even at my wholesale prices, MO is 40% more than domestic 2-row. And it’s the base malt for my American Amber. It does make a difference. A positive difference.
