Whats going on! I’m new around here so I thought no better way to introduce myself than with a thread on my current build.
What started as a simple idea of throwing up a small shed in my back yard to get my brewing equipment out of my garage quickly evolved into a somewhat over the top Brew shed/ Pool bar. I have a much more detailed build thread on another site that I have put together over the past couple months. Instead of boring everyone with all the details I will give you the 2cent tour. If anyone wants me to elaborate on any part of the build feel free to ask.
As a general note on this build I am a Superintendent for a commercial general contractor. That said a large amount of the equipment and materials have been reclaimed off of my job sites or crap i couldent bring myself to throw out. this is very much a build of using the resources available to me so where some things may seem off or overkill the reason is more than likely it was free so I made it work.The shed itself was torn down from another house and rebuilt on site.
Planing stages and ground breaking. As you will see as the thread goes on nothing in these plans was set in stone. A lot of this build evolved as it went.
Here is where design started killing my schedule the underside of the bar overhang is paneled with reclaimed wood. Sure soffit board would have been faster and easier but this came out way cooler.
The interior was insulated with a mix of 2" foam board and R19 faced batt. This is one of those situations where I used what I had around. The foil faced boards are placed around the burner area and what’s not shown is all gaps were fill with expanding foam.
The bar top is a pice of 2" thick solid Quartz that was being tossed on a job site. The supports are made of 1/4" steel with 1/4" round stock supports. They may not look like much but they are beefy.
This brings me to where I currently stand. I’ve got the walls and electrical closed in. The shed is ventilated by a 360cfm hit handler fan attached to two 6" intake pipes. I’ve got my basic brew kit set up and we brewed our first two batches this past Sunday.
Looks like an awesome space! I see something like this for me in the nearish future, and I have plenty of supplies leftover at our 7 facilities, I need to start searching through a little more in depth. I really like the reclaimed wood overhang.
Thanks! unless someone is screwing something up I end up with a bunch of down time at work which ends up in a pile of plans for projects I have zero time for. I also have a wife who needs very clear visuals to get on board with what I’m doing. I’ve gone as far as building a 3D card stock model of our house to show her addition plans.
