I have a recipe that calls for 3 gallons of Vintners cherry puree. I see it in beer smith but only in pounds, so how many gallons is in a 3 lb. 1 oz can?
sounds like a typo 3 gallons probably means 3 lbs, if im wrong i have no clue 3 gallons of cherries would be a 6 gallon bucket filled halfway , sounds like too much for any beer, but taking a guess i’d say one of those cans is like a quarter gallon give or take
Found this recipe in "Brewing Classic Styles " page 283 called “Black forest stout”. I found the Vintners puree’s in the Add-ons in Beer Smith and they only show gallons… I may need to check with Brad about that.
def check with brad if you can, the man’s a rocket scientist lol cheers
I take it you don’t have it yet? Google around and see how many ounces (fl if possible) there are. If you have it, grab a jug and pour it in!
Why not just go to the source and contact Vintners? They’re the ones that will know.
IIRC, a can of puree is 3 lbs. But Denny is right, check with Vintners.
That recipe in BCS calls for 6 lbs of cherry puree. That’s two cans. Software is a tool, don’t let it control you. Change the entry in Beersmith to 3 lbs and put two of them in your beer
got it…1 lb. = .12 gallons … so a 3 lb. puree can is .36 gallons.
